What is KeyMe?

KeyMe is a New York City-based startup that is revolutionizing the locksmith industry. KeyMe allows users to store, share, and duplicate their physical keys using a digital scan that is securely stored in the cloud.

What type of keys can I copy?

KeyMe supports the majority of key types including home, office, mailbox, padlock, Mul-T-Lock and select Medeco keys in our mobile app and kiosks. How does the KeyMe app work?

The KeyMe App allows you to digitally scan keys from your mobile device. If you ever get locked out, a locksmith can make your key from scratch by viewing instructions we display on your phone. You can also share keys with family/friends and mail order physical duplicates.

What does the KeyMe Kiosk do?

The KeyMe Kiosk allows you to instantly make copies of your keys. It also allows you to securely store digital copies of your keys so that if you ever get locked out, you can make a spare key at the kiosk.

Can I copy "Do Not duplicate" keys?

No, KeyMe should only be used for keys that you have the full rights to duplicate.

What types of decorative keys are available?

Decorative key designs vary by key type and KeyMe Kiosk location. For the most common key types, we offer several design options. For less common key types, we only have brass keys available. There are more key designs available on the KeyMe Phone App than are available in the KeyMe Kiosk.

Is it accurate?

Using advanced robotics to make your duplicates, the KeyMe Kiosk is significantly more accurate than most hardware stores and locksmiths.

How much does it cost to save a key?

Key storage is completely free. Save and store as many keys as you like!

What should I do if my key doesn't work?

Please contact KeyMe Customer Support by phone or text toll free at 1-855-397-6740. You can also contact us at support@key.me or chat with a representative though our website. KeyMe has a 100% refund policy.

How fast is shipping?

If you place an order for a regular metal key by 9 AM ET on a weekday, we’ll ship it out that same day. The United States Postal Service delivers mail in 2-5 business days.

If you place an order for a 3D printed key, it will take 3-5 weeks for 3D brass keys. These keys take longer to ship as they are all custom printed and require individualized design work. Note this only applies to 3D printed keys, not regular brass or designer keys.

What do I do if my key doesn't arrive?

If your key does not arrive within one week of your order, please contact KeyMe Customer Support by phone or text toll free at 1-855-397-6740. You can also contact us at support@key.me or chat with a representative though our website.

What if I don't want to ship a key to my home address?

We take every effort to protect your key during the shipping process. We ship all keys in plain, discrete, generic envelopes and do not list our name or branding to ensure that nothing about the contents could be discerned from the packaging. For additional security, you can have your key shipped to your office, PO Box, or a trusted neighbor.

Is it secure?

KeyMe is the most convenient and secure way to duplicate keys. Our kiosks require a fingerprint to access scanned keys, and, like an ATM, all transactions are recorded to provide an added layer of security. Our mobile app requires keys be scanned on both sides on a white paper background from 4" away to prevent "flyby" scans of your keys. We provide real-time notifications any time new activity occurs on your account so you can monitor & manage the security of your keys. When ordering keys, we store only the necessary personal information on file and keep no information which could be used to link your key with a location or lock. How do I share keys?

Once a key is successfully scanned and stored, you can easily share with family or friends using our mobile app. Simply access the key you wish to share on your digital keychain and tap the “share” button. You will be prompted to submit the recipient’s email address. We will send you an email confirmation upon sharing a key and another email when the recipient has accepted the key. Please note, once a key is shared, it cannot be deactivated, so we encourage you to only send keys to people you trust. If you have sent a key in error, contact us here.

How do you protect my personal information

We use commercial grade security to protect your key data. Additionally, we do not store any personally identifiable information except for an email address and password. If you use our kiosk, we also ask that you provide us with a fingerprint for additional security. We do not store your credit card information on our servers. That information is stored with our credit card processor, who uses encryption, SSL, HSTS, and is PCI Service Provider Level 1 certified, the most stringent level of certification available.
