What types of keys do you support?

KeyMe supports hundreds of key types, including home, office, mailbox, padlock, Mul-T-Lock and select Medeco keys. Many of these varieties can be printed in seconds from our self-service kiosks. How does the KeyMe key copy kiosk work?

The KeyMe kiosk copies typical brass keys in seconds. Insert your key, follow the prompts and print a duplicate key right on the spot. What if I don't have my original key? Can KeyMe still help me?

Can I copy "Do Not Duplicate" keys?

Yes, KeyMe can copy any key marked 'Do Not Duplicate.' The reason is that the 'Do Not Duplicate' marking carries with it no greater security than any other brass key. The Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA) has gone so far as to call the use of such markings "deceptive" because they provide "a false sense of security." It further advises its members to handle these keys in the same manner as any other key. The only exception to this is within the Los Angeles city limits. What types of decorative keys are available?

Decorative key designs vary by key type and KeyMe kiosk location. For the most common key types, we offer several design options. For less common key types, we only have brass keys available. Are KeyMe keys accurate?

How do I save my key and prevent getting locked out?

Key storage is completely free with any key purchase. Save and store as many keys as you like! There are two ways to do it: you can insert a key at a kiosk, or scan your key using our locksmith app. Watch The Video!

What should I do if my key doesn't work?

The KeyMe 100% Satisfaction Guarantee is our promise to get you a working key. If for some reason, you received a key that won't fit in your lock or won't turn, please contact KeyMe customer support by phone or text toll free at 1-855-397-6740. You can also contact us at support@key.me or chat with a representative through our website.

How fast is shipping?

If you place an order for a regular metal key by 9 AM ET on a weekday, we’ll ship it out that same day. The United States Postal Service delivers mail in 2-5 business days. If you place an order for a car key, alternative vehicle key or any other kind of specialty key, you should receive it in 2-5 business days.

My key never showed up. What now?

If your key does not arrive within one week of your order, please contact KeyMe Customer Support by phone or text toll free at 1-855-397-6740. You can also contact us at support@key.me or chat with a representative though our website.

What if I don't want to ship a key to my home address?

We take every effort to protect your key during the shipping process. We ship all keys in plain, discrete, generic envelopes and do not list our name or branding to ensure that nothing about the contents could be discerned from the packaging. For additional security, you can have your key shipped to your office, PO Box, or a trusted neighbor.

How does KeyMe prevent fraudulent key copying?

KeyMe is the most convenient and secure way to duplicate keys. Our kiosks require a fingerprint scan and/or a credit card swipe to access scanned keys. Like an ATM, all transactions are recorded to provide an added layer of security. Our mobile app requires keys be scanned on both sides on a white paper background from 4 inches away to prevent "flyby" scans of your keys. We provide real-time notifications any time new activity occurs on your account so you can monitor & manage the security of your keys. When ordering keys, we store only the necessary personal information on file and keep no information that could be used to link your key with a location or lock. How do I share keys?

Once a key is successfully scanned and stored, you can easily share with family or friends using our mobile app. Simply access the key you wish to share on your digital keychain and tap the “share” button. You will be prompted to submit the recipient’s email address. We will send you an email confirmation upon sharing a key and another email when the recipient has accepted the key. Please note, once a key is shared, it cannot be deactivated, so we encourage you to only send keys to people you trust. If you have sent a key in error, contact us here. Read More!

How do you protect my personal information

We use commercial-grade security to protect your key data. Additionally, we do not store any personally identifiable information except for an email address and password. If you use our kiosk, you can protect any key purchase with a fingerprint for additional security. We do not store your credit card information on our servers. That information is stored with our credit card processor, who uses encryption, SSL, HSTS, and is PCI Service Provider Level 1 certified, the most stringent level of certification available.
